Our Museums

MISSISSIPPI CHILDREN’S MUSEUM

The Mississippi Children’s Museum offers exciting educational experiences, which prepare children for school, build 21st century skills, and encourage a lifelong joy of learning. Exhibits and programs are designed around five educational initiatives: STEAM, literacy, health and nutrition, cultural arts, and Mississippi heritage.

At MCM, we take fun seriously! Dig for fossils, captain a shrimp boat, and cast a line for catfish in the Mississippi River. Design a CRAFT in WonderBox, enjoy a game of larger-than-life Scrabble, then crawl through the digestive system and get flushed! Your adventure is waiting at Jackson’s ultimate imagination destination.

AGRICULTURE & FORESTRY MUSEUM

Step back in time and stroll through a recreated rural Mississippi town from the 1920’s, complete with a general store, blacksmith shop, filling station, doctor’s office, print shop, schoolhouse, barnyard, a farmstead from the 1980’s, and more.

Our Heritage Center provides an exploration of the history and development of agriculture from the waterways, railways, and roadways of Mississippi from the times of the Indians, to sharecropper days, to present. Air transportation is also covered, with one-third of the Heritage Center devoted to the National Aviation Museum.

Come travel with us along the rivers, railroads, and roadways via agriculture and forestry.

Mississippi Museum of Natural Science

Meet a two-headed snake, snap selfies with a giant sloth fossil, and see a huge catfish! Travel back in time on the Dinosaur Trail. Discover 200+ living species including native reptiles, fishes, and amphibians in our aquariums. Play in the preschool room in an iconic treehouse.
